The Chaos of Stars
by Kiersten White
Release Date: September 10th,2013
Preorder it here

"Isadora’s family is seriously screwed up.

Of course, as the human daughter of Egyptian gods, that pretty much comes with the territory. She’s also stuck with parents who barely notice her, and a house full of relatives who can’t be bothered to remember her name. After all, they are going to be around forever—and she’s a mere mortal.

Isadora’s sick of living a life where she’s only worthy of a passing glance, and when she has the chance to move to San Diego with her brother, she jumps on it. But Isadora’s quickly finding that a “normal” life comes with plenty of its own epic complications—and that there’s no such thing as a clean break when it comes to family. Much as she wants to leave her past behind, she can’t shake the ominous dreams that foretell destruction for her entire family. When it turns out there may be truth in her nightmares, Isadora has to decide whether she can abandon her divine heritage after all."

                                                                                 Why?

Egyptian gods? Mysterious nightmares? That awesome cover? An author I already love?

 Why not?

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (Between #1)
 by
Publication date: August 20th,2013
Preorder it here
"You stop fearing the devil when you’re holding his hand…

Nothing much exciting rolls through Violet White’s sleepy, seaside town…until River West comes along. River rents the guesthouse behind Violet’s crumbling estate, and as eerie, grim things start to happen, Violet begins to wonder about the boy living in her backyard. Is River just a crooked-smiling liar with pretty eyes and a mysterious past? Or could he be something more? Violet’s grandmother always warned her about the Devil, but she never said he could be a dark-haired boy who takes naps in the sun, who likes coffee, who kisses you in a cemetery...who makes you want to kiss back. Violet’s already so knee-deep in love, she can’t see straight. And that’s just how River likes it.

Blending faded decadence and the thrilling dread of gothic horror, April Genevieve Tucholke weaves a dreamy, twisting contemporary romance, as gorgeously told as it is terrifying—a debut to watch."

The cover, the summery, everything! I can't wait to read this one!

Review: Geek High by Piper Banks

Review of Geek High by Piper Banks

Release date: November 6th,2007
Format: Paperback, 242 pages
Publisher: NAL Trade
Source: Bought.

Summery from Goodreads:

"At this school, everyone's a geek. And Miranda Bloom still can't fit in...

Miranda is a math genius with divorced parents, an evil stepmother, and no boyfriend in sight. She can't even fit in with the other geeks at the Nottingham Independent School for high-IQ students, because theyactually have useful talents. Miranda, on the other hand, is known as "The Human Calculator," which doesn't amount to much when people have, you know, their own calculators.

Then Miranda gets stuck planning the school's Snowflake Gala. And as she struggles to find a date and drum up some school spirit at Nottingham-aka "Geek High"-she finds that who you are means more than where you fit in."

When I first read the summery for Geek High, I was hooked. This book isn't some great epic that will keep you up all night wondering what'll happen next, but it is a cute pleasurable read. It's just what you need after reading something dark. Geek High is light and a little bit of fluff. But it's good. It was funny and endearing, a little predictable in some places, but also a new take on being a teenager. Being a nerd!

A nerd that was judging others the way she didn't want them to judge her. The way she assuming the pretty rich girl would be a snob or the hot jock would be a meat-head was a little annoying, but she is only 15, and really, who doesn't occasionally do that?

Rating- 3/12 stars.

Review: Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake

Review of Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake.

Release date: August 30th, 2011.
Format: Hardcover, 316 pages.
Publisher: Tor Teen.
Source: Gifted.

Summery from Goodreads :

Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story...

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This book. The Feels.  Anna.

Anna Dressed in Blood opens while Cas is on a hunt, a poor ghost trying to get to the girl he'll never see again. Right from the start, it hooked me. Cas was funny and broody and badass. And Anna. Anna is the badass. I love Kendare's description of Anna, especially when we first met her. It was frightening and beautiful. She was frightening and beautiful. But also tragic. Her murder, and her horrible mother. I really hope her mother hatred is explained a little more in Girl of Nightmares.

But something that really annoyed me was Gideon and Cas's mother trying to keep Cas from knowing anything about his father murder. I didn't like the way he had to hide the research he was doing. Also, Will. Will was a complete, ahem, ding-dong. I really, really disliked Will. And he was  really the only one that missed Mike, which I found funny. The way Mike's disappearance  was just swept under the rug was a little disconcerting, but not entirely surprising.

Anyway, I'm still a little overwhelmed with that ending.

Rating: 4 1/2 stars.
